After finishing the Master studies of Business and Economics, Jan joined Shell’s Gas and Power division in 1998. The first 5 years Jan has worked in various European Gas and Upstream markets in the areas of governance, shareholder representation and business development. In 2003 Jan joined Oil Products doing several Sales and Marketing roles in different European fuels businesses before he started to work with Trading running B2B’s risk management in 2010. Two years later Jan took over Shell Marine Lubricants business in Europe/Africa and got promoted to global GM Shell Marine in 2014. In April 2018 Jan joined Shell Retail as GM Retail DACH until End of July 2021. Jan is currently transitioning into the role of President, Global Aviation for Shell, based in London.

Jan is married to Pia and they live still in Hamburg with their 3 children (and their dog). In his leisure time Jan enjoys sailing and skiing with his family or doing (a lot of) cooking with family and friends.
